Condition

The panel is uncradled and flat. The paint surface is slightly dirty and the varnish is slightly discoloured. There is a small retouched loss in the centre, just above the pinnacle of the spire, and two losses, lower right, approx. 0.5 x 1 cm. - all visible in the catalogue illustration. There is also a superficial diagonal surface scratch in the sky, upper right. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals a milky varnish, beneath which it is difficult to discern intervention - it appears that some of the cloud forms may have been strengthened slightly, but the painting is otherwise untouched. In overall good condition.
