Description
- Giltwood, mirror glass
- 147cm. high, 78cm. wide; 4ft. 10in., 2ft. 6¾in.
the whole with inset beveled glass pieces, the pierced cresting surmounted by plumage, above rectangular beveled central plate within a shaped with shell motifs to the corners, above a C scrolling pierced apron
Condition
Overall in good conserved condition. The gilt decoration is atmospherically distressed and reveals the red bole in areas throughout. The plumage to the top cresting has more extensive signs of wear and losses to the mirror glass to the extremities. The remaining mirror glass to the borders has signs of tarnishing and losses to the silvering. The central bevelled plate has some minor silvering and is possibly associated.

An almost identical mirror was sold with Sotheby’s New York, Arianne Dandois, vol. I, 25th October 2007, lot 229 ($31,000).
