Overall the condition of the alabaster is good, with wear and dirt to the surface throughout, consistent with age. There are remnants of gilding in a few areas. There is rubbing to the high points of the carving, and there are a few chips and abrasions, including to the woman's proper left knee and to her proper left hand. There are several splits or open veins to the alabaster, including to the edge of the raised relief on the proper left side and to a section of the background on the proper right side. There is wear and dirt to the frame throughout, including flaking to the gilding and paintwork, and chips and abrasions to the wood at the edges and corners. The bottom left corner relief of one of the evangelists is replaced in plaster, and the top left corner relief has been reattached, with break lines slightly visible. There are several old corroded metal nails. There is a mounted rope at the back of the frame for hanging.
