Description

the exterior painted with broad ruyi-shaped lappets enclosing peony scrolls, all above poetic inscriptions alternating with birds in flight amongst flowers and upright plantain leaves, the neck similarly decorated with stylised peony scrolls above a chevron band

Condition

The vase is in good general condition, there is a hairline crack to the body (approx. 15cm) and a large iron-spot run on the neck. There is fritting along the rim, as characteristic of the period, and other minor firing imperfections, General surface wear.
