Catalogue Note

Grandfather of the famous watchmaker Lieutaud, François Lieutaud was born around 1665 in Marseille to a family of sculptors. He became a master cabinetmaker in 1710. Like André-Charles Boulle, he produced his own high quality mounts in gilt-bronze of which those employed on the current lot relate to other stamped examples by him.
