each upholstered with contemporary Aubusson pastoral and floral tapestry, after Jean-Baptiste Huet, woven against an ivory ground, the chair backs centred with a male figure within laurel wreath cartouche, the seats woven with a dog within a similar cartouche, and padded floral tapestry armrests
Condition
In un-restored condition. The frames: with separations to joins and later strengthening brackets to the underside, losses, chips and wear to carved detail, the gilding with losses, marks and ingrained dirt often revealing red bole. With areas of old retouching and filler. Tapestry with extensive wear, ingrained dirt and loose threads overall, and some splits to seat back of one and seat of both. These chairs would benefit from workshop attention.
