Catalogue Note
Marsh, Jones & Cribb were renowned Victorian cabinet makers who began in Leeds as Marsh & Jones, circa 1850, before later expanding to Cavendish Square, London when the well-known cabinetmaker of Soho, London Henry Humphries Cribb sent his son to serve his apprenticeship. The firm's designs chart the changing tastes of the Victorian era, from the fanciful Gothic revival to the simplicity of Arts & Crafts, and a number of pieces by the firm retain the Marsh, Jones & Cribb trade label.
