Description

  • Ebonised fruitwood on oak, brass, steel, glass
  • 63cm. 24¾in. high high
7-inch silvered shaped dial with gilt rococo spandrels, the centre with date aperture and signed Moore, Ipswich,  the arch with subsidiary chime/silent and tune selection dials flanking a silvered plaque engraved with a classical figure playing a lyre, the substantial three train chain fusee movement with five knopped pillars, later anchor escapement, trip repeat striking the hours on a bell and playing one of eight tunes on twelve bells with twelve hammers every three hours, the case with bell top and pineapple finials, cast gilt side frets, caryatid corner mounts and foliate scroll feet 

Condition

Dial in good condition. Movement appears to be complete but is much in need of a clean and service, later conversion to anchor escapement, pendulum missing. Case in generally good clean condition with some old restoration. With w 2 case keys but no pendulum or winder.
