the three train movement with chain fusee to the going train, the verge escapement with plain brass balance and bridge cock mounted on the backplate, the hour and quarter striking trains with standing barrels, grande sonnerie striking on two coiled gongs, the vase-shaped case with pierced cover and cone finial above finely chased ormolu mounts, the mid-mounted chapter ring indicating the time against a serpent and arrow, the triple paw foot on a square base and bun feet

Movement is complete and just running at time of cataloguing but would benefit from a clean and service. Chapter ring in good condition. Case in very good condition throughout with the mounts retaining their original gilding. With a winder.

This clock may possibly have been made by Karl Schmid who won a bronze medal for mother-of-pearl novelties at the first Austrian Industrial Products Exhibition held in 1835. Vienna was a centre for the production of mother-of-pearl novelties.
