Description
- Silver, Ivory, Wood.
- knife 20.3cm., 8in. long
the rounded ivory and shibyama work handles lacquered in red and gold with various Japanese climbing plants and birds, further embellished in mother-of-pearl and hardstone with crabs, ladybirds and other insects, in a fitted ebonised wood case with turquoise velvet interior
Condition
Four of the knife handles with cracks running through at various lengths, Shibyama work is predominantly intact with little signs of losses. The blades and tines are clean and sharp. Generally good condition other than typical ivory discolouration. The ebonised wood case is scuffed with various chips. The cover is heavily bowed and does not close fully. The cover is missing the central brass cartouche
