Description

the stylised double-skinned bowl in the form of a lotus flower with applied tendrils, the body embossed in relief with a depiction of the story of the tiger and the crab; featuring two giant crab flanking a half-tiger, half-human figure; the tendril stem supported by a further cast crab attempting to pinch the tigers foot, all raised on a spreading stylised lily base with further attached furled leaf and un-blossomed lotus, character marks stamped to underside

Condition

Various areas of solder repair; junction of supporting crabs claw with foot of tiger, the ankle of the tiger, junction of supporting crab leg with un-blossomed lotus, the upper section of the un-blossomed lotus and around the areas of the central tendril stem junction with the bowl. Otherwise light wear to the high points of the decoration. A couple of light pin-head size dents to the centre of the bowl. Fine surface scratching.
