Description
- wool, flatweave
- approximately 523cm by 392cm; 17ft. 2in., 12ft. 10in.
Condition
Overall measurements: 392cm across the top, 402cm across the bottom, 523cm the left side, 512cm the right side.
There are small scattered re-weaves and areas strengthened throughout. There is an area of re-weave to the right hand side of the ivory lozenge, approximately 30 by 45cm. Some areas of colour run noticeable in the lozenge and can be seen in the zoomed online image or please request images from the department. The colour run maybe slightly improved from professional attention. An area of foundation weakness to the lower left corner. Sotheby's recommends a heavy underlay as the kilim is finely woven and flexible. Three cotton channels attached to the reverse for hanging. A unusual work due to the ivory field against the more classic red, and generally an unusual work.
