Catalogue Note
the flowing, twisting scrolls, particularly on the standard and base of this lamp are inspired by the designs of Juste-Aurèle Meissonier (1695-1750), that were popular at the end of the 19th century. Meissonier's designs were reinterpreted for the art nouveau by Léon Messagé, Eugène Lelièvre and others, and cast by Raingo Frères, Susses Frères and Siot, who likely cast the present example.
