This clock is almost identical to the one illustrated Hans Ottomeyer and Peter Pröschel, Vergoldete Bronzen, Vol. I, Munich, 1987, p. 197, fig. 3.13.2 and another offered Sotheby's Paris, November 9, 2010, lot 103. These two comparable examples have been attributed to Robert Osmond based on an unsigned design numbered 143 and believed to be by Osmond in the Livres de Desseins preserved at the Fonds Doucet. Robert Osmond (1711-1789) worked in Paris as a maker of fine ormolu clocks and supplied cases to DuTertre and Vauchez, among others.
