A LOUIS XV ORMOLU-MOUNTED SATINWOOD, KINGWOOD AND PARQUETRY COMMODE circa 1740, remounted, stamped Criaerd

This spectacular commode would benefit enormously from some sympathetic restoration. The later mounts are superb quality and do not detract. They are dirty and would benefit from a deep clean. The marble is richly figured and features the kind of surface scratches and old marks that one would expect to see. There are losses to veneers. There are patched to veneers. There are fractures and cracks to structural elements, notably to the top of each front legs where it joins the apron and these separations have caused trauma to the veneers at these sites. The sides with lifting to veneers and further cracks.
