Condition

These magnificent, decorative tables have tops that have been refinished and redecorated; however, the detail and color is well-matched to the lower section. The tops now with some losses to decoration at edges, notably to the left side of one. Underside of the tops with later remedial battons to correct movement and possibly splitting along age cracks. The lower section with original japanning also with retouching to decoration (apparently to the top and bottom strips of the frieze); now with distress to surface as to be expected. Cracklure with subsequent losses revealing underpaint. One top is slightly loose. Each table with gradual movement to the legs due to age with minor variations to each. One piece of the applied band to right leg missing. Usual chips, abrasions, and scratches consistent with use and age.
