Condition

These are very nice quality. In Country house tired condition. The upholstery is torn and will need to be re-done or cleaned and restored. There are chips to carved detail, the beech timber is visible in places were the gilding has rubbed away. There is some re-touching and ingrained dirt. The gilt surface whilst original features areas of re-touching and exposed gesso. One of the chairs has been re-blocked. There are numerous old tack holes. Filler to joints. One re-blocked and evidence of glue. Both are sturdy. These are a smart pair of chairs which would benefit from some sympathetic restoration subject to taste.
