Peint en 1906, ce tableau très fortement influencé par l’Impressionnisme, présente un des endroits préférés de l’artiste, dans le jardin de la maison familiale de Nemours. A plusieurs reprises, il étudiera sur ce sophora le jeu de la lumière, au soleil, comme ici, ou à l’ombre, dans une série de toiles de même format.
Painted circa 1906, the painting shows the artist's garden in Nemours. It is part of a series where the artist paints the same subjets at different hours of the day on canvas of the same size. Inspired by the impressionist work, he studies the light of day.
