Condition
The painting sits on its original canvas. The squared up lines are slightly visible on the surface, as well as pencil traces under the painting. Traces of the compass appear around the flowers. The painting does not seem varnished.

Cette ravissante peinture exécutée en février 1927 fut le premier portrait d’enfant commandé à Bernard Boutet de Monvel après l’exposition de 1926 à la Anderson Galleries, New York. Deux ans plus tard, Alexandra Emery Moore commanda à l’artiste le portrait d’un autre de ses petits-enfants.
This portrait is the first one that was commissioned to the artist after ther 1926 exhibition in New York, at the Anderson Galleries. Two years later, in 1929, Alexandra Emery Moore asked for the portrait of another one of her grand children.
