the narrow, rectangular T-shaped box comprised of thin panels of wood with pegged, mitered corners, and with baitong mounts reinforcing the upper corners, a circular lock plate and cloud-headed hasp to the front, rectangular hinges at the back joining the cover to the box, the interior with two small compartments at either end, the wood of a rich amber color

The box has expected wear to the surface and some minor repairs. The metalwork has been replaced. The box is lacking an inner tray.
