of rectangular form, the cover comprising a single top and side panels, metal-hinged on the back to the box of corresponding form, the opposite side embellished at the center with a well-oxidized metal scrolled circular backplate set with a lock, flanked on the shorter sides with a pair of shaped loop handles suspended from quatrefoil escutcheons, the densely grained wood of a warm reddish-brown color

Condition

There is a patch repair to one top corner. There are filled repairs to some splitting just above the base. It appears that the side handles are replacements. The box with other minor repairs and the surface with expected wear.
