註：鄭午昌筆下以構圖險峻，佈局出人意表勝。畫中千巖萬壑，奇峰迭出，令觀者目不暇及。本幅一反其慣性，化繁為簡，務虛為主，寥寥數筆點劃峰頂岩塊外，餘下山體輪廓、天際彩霞，以至江畔波光，皆以淡彩反複薄染，用色亦不出青赭，袛見滿紙烟嵐飄盪，水氣濔漫，茫茫中隱約可見帆張結伴沿江而過，正蜀江帆影之景也。

畫家在長跋中詳述如此創作之緣由，涉及與詩人徐志摩、書畫家李祖韓之交往，字裡行間點出在詩文、書畫上各有所長，流露了惺惺相惜之情，亦為上世紀三十年代滬上文壇風貌添補一筆。跋中稱徐志摩為「同學」，蓋鄭、徐清室鼎革前就讀於杭州府中中學，故具同窗之誼。
