Description

  • bronze
powerfully cast in the form of the wrathful manifestation of Manjusri, the buffalo-faced deity clasping his consort Vajravetali and holding a kartrika and a kapala in his principal hands and with thirty-two radial arms grasping ritual implements and tantric weapons, stepping in pratyalidha with his sixteen legs and trampling a host of demons and birds underfoot, the base sealed with a metal plate

Condition

There are minor bruises and tiny losses to the extremities, all consistent with age. Some of the attributes in the deity's hands are also missing. There are traces of red pigment, particularly to the deities' hair. The "stoppers" beneath the figure also appear to have been stabilised. There is also general light surface wear but the figure is well preserved and in overall good condition.
