the rectangular body set with a short spout opposed by a angular handle, inscribed Jiangxin duyun Zuitaozhai Yaochen zhi Leren juan ('uncanny ingenuity, made by Yaochen from the Zuitao studio, carved by Leren'), the base impressed with a four-character Lü Yaochen zhi mark, the cover with a lion finial, impressed with a two-character Yaochen mark

Catalogue Note

Born in 1941, Lü Yaochen, a native of Yixing, Jiangsu province, is a renowned contemporary zisha artist, who studied under the famous 20th century teapot master Wu Yungen (1892-1969). Examples of Lü's teapots are preserved in museums, such as the Palace Museum, Beijing.
