A ‘JIAN’ ‘HARE’S FUR’ BOWL SONG DYNASTY

Estimate
80,000 - 120,000 HKD
bidding is closed

Description

  • ceramic
stoutly potted with a narrow groove encircling the exterior below the rim, covered overall with a lustrous black glaze, thinning at the rim with short russet streaks extending downwards, the glaze falling short of the foot to reveal the dark brown stoneware body, the rim bound in white metal, Japanese wood box

Condition

There are a couple of old restored chips to the rim beneath the metal mount, one of 2.5 by 1 cm, showing on both sides of the bowl, the other 2 cm on the interior of the rim, with associated crackling in the glaze. There is a glaze gap on the exterior and burst bubble to the interior, together with further expected minor firing imperfections, all original and characteristic of the type. The metal mount has been later fitted to the bowl. The glaze is attractive and the bowl well potted.
