Description

  • bronze
probably the former multi-head projection atop the head of a Avalokitesvara, the nine wrathful heads with bejewelled long pendulous earlobes, the arrangement extending upwards in diminishing size

Condition

There is a crack to the lower section of the fragment. There is light surface wear and rubbing to the gilding, particularly to the extremities. There is also malachite encrustation to the recesses of the fragment, all consistent with age. The fragment is otherwise in overall good condition.
