Description

  • jade
the archaistic belthook carved from a white translucent stone in the form of an archaistic dragon, the head forming the hook, facing a younger chilong clambering on the arched shaft; the brass belt buckle embellished with an oval white jade plaque reticulated with a facing dragon writhing amongst lotus

Condition

There is a fissure around the head of the belt hook indicating that it may have been off and re-affixed but there is no loss of material or further damage to the head so it might also be only an age crackle in the stone. There is some light nibbling along the edge. The bronze-mounted reticulated 'dragon' buckle is generally in good condition. There are a few expected small nicks and icy inclusions along the edges.
