Description

  • ceramics
the ‘Henan’ bowl with upright sides, covered overall with a black glaze accentuated with liberally splashed russet dapples, the glaze stopping evenly above the foot to reveal the buff-coloured stoneware body; the ‘Yaozhou’ bowl with flaring sides rising to a five-lobed rim, covered with a greyish-green glaze suffused with white specks and faint crackles

Condition

The overall condition of the russet-splashed bowl is very good except for a flake to the inner footring. The celadon bowl has a restored flake of approx. 1 cm to the mouth and a few refilled glaze gaps to the foot. Both bowls also have some typical firing imperfections, such as firing lines and kiln grits, as well as expected surface scratches.
