Description

  • ceramics
with a countersunk base and an inverted rim, covered overall with a lustrous black glaze, thinning at the rim with russet streaks extending downwards, the glaze terminating in thick drops short of the base to reveal the brown stoneware body

Condition

Three sections of the mouthrim, longest approx. 10 cm, have been restored with overpaint. There are also expected surface scratches and typical firing imperfections including a polished kiln grit with glaze pool to the foot.
