A ‘JIAN’ BLACK-GLAZED BOWL SONG DYNASTY

Estimate
30,000 - 50,000 HKD
bidding is closed

Description

  • ceramics
with the gently rounded sides rising from a straight foot, covered overall in a smooth black glaze with short subtle russet streaks extending downwards from the rim, the glaze stopping unevenly at the foot to reveal the dark brown stoneware body, the rim bound in metal, Japanese wood box

Condition

The mouthrim appears to have been slightly polished down, probably to conceal some glaze flakes, and later mounted with a metal rim. The bowl is otherwise in overall good condition with only some characteristic firing imperfections.
