the compressed globular body rising to a waisted neck and everted rim, set to the top with two angular handles, covered overall save for the base with a dark brownish-black glaze splashed with beige markings simulating tortoiseshell, pierced metal cover, Japanese wood box

Condition

There is restoration to one handle. There is a shallow chip to the tip of one foot. Some minor firing imperfections and occasional flaking to the glaze, typical of this type.
