Description

  • ceramics
the cylindrical body surmounted by a tall slender neck applied with a pair of 'dragon-fish' handles, covered overall with a smooth sea-green glaze draining to a paler tone at the edges, Japanese wood box

Condition

There is a restored area to the mouthrim and neck (reverse side), extending down to the bottom of the right handle, possibly to conceal a few rim flakes and a hairline crack. The vase also has some typical surface scratches and expected firing flaws including fritting to the edges and kiln nicks to the foot. The actual colour of the vase is richer and more of a sea-green tone than the catalogue illustration.
