Folio (360 x 258mm.), 48 photographs, including 2-part panoramas of Hong Kong and Macao, comprising 26 albumen prints (19: 210 x 270mm. and 7 approx. 140 x 200mm.), one cyanotype (105 x 150mm.), and 21 silver prints (average 95 x 120mm.), original black half roan, dark green cloth boards, gilt edges, some stains and fading, some mounts detached, binding worn, lacking spine
Provenance
William Alfred Bauer (1867-1932), an Australian born surveyor and Railroad engineer. In 1890 Bauer went to the Malay Peninsula and was employed building railways for the King of Siam (Thailand). In 1891 he went to Vancouver, where he practised as a surveyor, and later became involved in property, farming and mining. Inscription on preliminary blank: "William A. Bauer / Xmas 1895 / from A.M.B."
