A SPLENDID SET. "Barrow was controller of the Household of Lord Macartney's embassy to China. His account of the mission is very detailed. The plates of the atlas include a fine colour portrait of Van-ta-gin, specimen of Chinese characters, an attractive view of a junk, a rice mill, and much on Chinese music (with the music transcribed)" (Western Travellers in China).
