Catalogue Note

Original artwork from the first Madeline book, in which Madeline has to have her appendix removed. This large picture illustrates Miss Clavel and the twelve little girls leaving the house in their two straight lines, all holding umbrellas under the rain, with Notre Dame cathedral in the background. The scene includes a man walking a dog, 4 other people with umbrellas, two nuns wearing white cornettes, as well as the Seine and what appears to be a misplaced Pont au Change.
