Arthur Hughes (1832–1915) was a British artist of the Royal Academy, best known for his work for the Pre-Raphaelite movement, creating major pieces in that genre, although he was a leading book illustrator in the 1860s-70s, working with Tennyson, George MacDonald and Christina Rossetti, among others.
