Catalogue Note
First edition of the New Testament in Coptic; a tall copy with wide margins. Until this edition of 1716, only the Psalms had appeared as printed scripture in Coptic. The present translation is by David Wilkins (1685–1745) who taught Arabic at Cambridge. He followed the publication of the New Testament in Coptic with a Coptic edition of the Pentateuch in 1731.
