muni de deux godets couverts fuselés, de trois porte-plumes à motif de rosace et d'une figure de magot, reposant sur un plateau laqué blanc encadré d'une frise or à fond vermillon et ceint d'une moulure en bronze verni terminée par huit pieds à enroulement
Condition
The illustration of the catalogue is accurate. Good overall condition despite the inevitable scratches and marks due to age and use. There are many scratches to the paint pf the top as visible on the illustration. The gilding is rubbed on exposed areas.

Catalogue Note
Cet encrier illustre parfaitement le travail du marchand-mercier qui va employer des figures en céladon sur un plateau confié à un atelier de vernisseur parisien. On retrouve ce type de décor sur une paire de cache-pots en tôle vernissée montrant les mêmes croisillons « à mosaïque » et fleurons que ceux à fond rouge ornant la bordure de notre écritoire, datée des années 1720 et conservée au musée des Arts décoratifs (inv. 36120 A-B) à Paris.
A titre anecdotique, le célèbre marchand-mercier Lazare Duvaux a vendu en 1749 à : “M. Brochant, correcteur des comptes: Une écritoire de trois cornets de porcelaine céladon sur un plateau verni”.
