chaque enfant représentant une Allégorie de la Guerre et de la Paix, assis sur un animal fantastique formant nuée, ornée d'acanthe, la base de forme cintrée ornée d'une coquille et terminée par quatre pieds en griffe de lion ; (usures à la dorure)

Condition
The illustration of the catalogue is accurate. Good overall condition despite the inevitable scratches and marks due to age and use. As stated on the calaogue description, the gilding is rubbed thrpughout especially on both tops of the bases.
The iron fittings are missing.

Catalogue Note
Une paire de ce modèle de chenets aux enfants guerriers est conservée au musée des Arts décoratifs à Paris, tandis qu'une autre paire se trouve dans l'appartement de la marquise de Pompadour au château de Versailles. Ce type de chenet s'inscrit dans le même esprit que ceux acquis par le musée Paul J. Getty (93. DF. 49.1-2) auprès de la galerie Bernard Steinitz en 1993, symbolisant les Quatre Eléments. Les enfants appartiennent au même type de répertoire que celui utilisé par les sculpteurs ayant travaillé à Versailles et qui continuera à inspirer des bronziers comme Charles Cressent.
