Description

  • velvet and gilt threads
the purple velvet ground decorated in maraş style with gilt and silver metal threads with crescent moon and star centre emanating rays, surrouned by six stylised mosques and rich floral motifs, with outer fringed border, mounted on red linen ground

Condition

The velvet ground so worn that only vestiges remain, the gilt-thread rich although some tears in centre to cardboard backings and slight fraying and discoloration in some areas, the red linen backing with a tear and associated consolidation, as viewed.
