  • ink on paper with leather binding
Persian manuscript on polished gold-sprinkled paper, 41 leaves, 12 lines to the page, written in neat nasta'liq script in black ink, text area divided by gold rules, small square areas each with 2 lines of Omar Khayyam's Rubayat written diagonally in smaller nasta'liq, catchwords, blue scrolling flowers filling numerous panels throughout, margins ruled in colours and gold, illuminated opening headpiece in colours and gold employing chinoiserie cloud bands and scrolling flowers, morocco binding with gilt-stamped medallions and cornerpieces

Provenance

Pencil notes on the manuscript in an early twentieth-century hand on a separate piece of headed paper giving the title 'Fifth Avenue Memorial Inc., New York Institution for Burial and Cremation... 40 West 57th Street, New York City'. 

Condition

In fairly good overall condition, binding worn with abrasions, paper repairs to opening leaves, creasing and various stains, as viewed.
