Persian manuscript on paper, 58 leaves plus 25 flyleaves, misbound, 6 to 8 lines to the page, written in small and fine nasta'liq script in black ink vertically and diagonally, ruled in blue, black and gold, 4 pages with illuminated headpieces in colours and gold with titles in white Kufic, many pages with stencilled outer margins of varying vegetal designs in numerous different colours, reddish-brown morocco binding with gilt stamped central medallion filled with vines and chinoiserie cloud band motifs, scroll-work border

Condition

In fair overall condition, binding in need of repair as one board loose, creases and wear to binding, paper edges water-stained, various small smudges and other stains, text area generally clean, as viewed.

Catalogue Note

The titles in Kufic give the poets' names as Tusi (not identified), Amir Shahi (d.1452) and Khiyali (d. circa 1446). A further safina-form manuscript of poetry of a similar date and place of production to the present work was sold in these rooms, 25 April 2012, lot 430.
