Description

  • gold and ink on paper
Arabic manuscript on paper, composed of two boards joined in the middle, 11 lines to the page including a large upper line of thuluth script and 11 lines of naskh script within cloud bands against a punched gold ground, the interstices filled with polychrome rococo flowers, light blue outer borders with gold leafy scrolls 

Condition

In fairly good overall condition, outer margins water stained with various small holes, minor stains, as viewed.

The preset calligrapher's diploma (ijazeh) is signed by the student Mustafa al-Arif, and signed by eighteen other calligraphers including Ahmed al-Zihni and Ibrahim Khulusi.
