  • ink and gold on paper, leather binding
Arabic manuscript on paper, 303 leaves plus 3 flyleaves, 15 lines to the page, written in neat naskh script in black ink, verses separated by pointed gold dots, surah headings in white within foliate gold panels, catchwords, various marginal illuminations throughout, margins ruled with a thick band of gold, opening illuminated frontispiece with rococo floral decoration against a gold ground with pin-pricked cintamani motifs, possibly added colophon giving name of 'Abdullah al-Zuhdi and the date 1271 AH, brown morocco binding with gilt geometric borders and central floral design, with flap

Condition

In good overall condition, illumination bright and ink bold, minor paper repairs to opening leaves, binding slightly worn, as viewed.
