Description

  • tinned-copper
the exterior chiselled and engraved with a major band of composite palemettes containing floral blossoms, above a narrow band of arcaded palmettes to underbody, calligraphic band to rim, black compound highlights in background

Private collection, UK, since pre-1951
Accompanied by a letter from D.E. Barrett, formerly of the Department of Oriental Antiquities, British Museum, London, dated 29 September 1951. 

Condition

The bowl oxidised, particularly to interior, with some orange rusting, scratches to surface, few minor knicks consistent with age, rubbing to surface and resulting losses to black compound on background of design, as viewed.
