Condition
The body with some dents and oxidisation particularly noticeable to interior, parts of the surface rubbed with copper showing through, few scratches to surface, the dragon finials added later (old soldering marks visible), as viewed.

Around the rim, in small nasta’liq:
The bismillah followed by the nada ‘Ali quatrain, which apart from ‘Ali, includes invocations to God and Muhammad, followed by a short prayer and owner’s name as Kuchak ‘Ali and the date 1074 (1663-4 AD).
A bowl of similar form and design, with a calligraphic frieze and body decorated with scrolling palmettes and cloud-bands, is in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, inv. no. 755-1889.
