de forme globulaire aplatie reposant sur trois pieds cylindriques, la panse ornée de deux cartouches polylobés abritant une inscription arabe Min fadhl Allah ('De la grâce de Dieu'), flanqué de deux anses en 'U' inversé, marque Xuande apocryphe à six caractères en relief à la base

Provenance

Acquired in China by the grandfather of the present owner between 1939 and 1940, a Belgian diplomat in Chungking in 1939-1940.

Condition

The censer is in good overall condition. It is heavily cast, the inscription crisp. There is very minor overall surface wear. The bronze is of a slighlty lighter colour than the catalogue illustration suggests.
