Condition

Good condition overall. Wear consistent with age and use within the culture. Some tiny losses and scratches on both figures, to the nose and mouth for one and to the buttock and back of the headdress for the other. Fine beautiful patina.

Cette paire de statuettes ere ibeji  illustre un style délicat, où s’exprime la douceur et l’équilibre des traits  se distinguant du corpus par la présence de pagnes atypiques, les scarifications et les ceintures qu’elles ont conservées à la taille. Honorant la mémoire de jumeaux défunts et perpétuant leurs pouvoirs bénéfiques ces statuettes étaient célébrées et choyées. Certains détails ont ainsi été estompés par les caresses et les soins qu’on leur a prodigués.
