Condition
The present rubbing is the second (xia) volume of two. The rubbings are bound in a leporello album. The inside front cover bears the following inscription in black ink in German which may be translated as 'Examined on the 11th of the 2nd month of the 1st month of the reign of the Xuantong emperor. Yin Chang, Vienna: President in the Ministry of War in Peking, currently Chinese imperial legat in Germany'. On each page, the calligraphy lines of the rubbings are cut out in vertical strips and attached to a black ground before being mounted on each page. Collophones and seals in good condition.
Yin Chang 廕昌 (1859-1928) was a translator, military and politician under the Manchu government and was Imperial chinese legate in Berlin in 1909.
