The lion on the left hand side of the catalogue illustration has four curly tufts of his beard missing (partially visible in the catalogue illustration). There is a ca. 6x4cm large part of the tail that has broken off and been reattached and a chip to the tip of the tail. There is a ca. 5cm long hairline to the side of the base extending ca. 4cm into the leg of the lion. There are overall losses to the raised and pointed parts of the design and overall light wear to the enamels and gold detailing of the bushy eyebrows. The lion on the right hand side of the catalogue illustration has five curly tufts of his beard missing (partially visible in the catalogue illustration). The colours are much more subtle than the catalogue illustration suggests.
